MyTravelPal — Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-10-12

These terms govern the use of MyTravelPal (“the App”), a road-trip planning service for European drivers operated by José Javier González García (“we”). By installing or using the App you accept these conditions.

1. What MyTravelPal does

MyTravelPal helps you plan road trips: route calculation, optimal departure time, stops to eat and sleep, toll and fuel estimates, weather along the route, hotel and restaurant suggestions, speed camera alerts (using the public OpenStreetMap database) and an AI driving assistant.

Estimates are approximations. Distances, driving times, tolls, fuel prices, hotel rates and speed camera alerts come from public sources and heuristic models. They may be inaccurate. Always cross-check critical information with official sources before committing to anything.

Speed camera alerts are informative, not active. The App queries a static database of speed cameras from OpenStreetMap and warns you of their approximate presence. It does not detect radar emissions (which would be illegal in several countries). Coverage and accuracy of the data depend on the OSM community and may be out of date. Do not rely solely on these alerts to decide your speed.

2. Your account

3. Subscriptions and billing

MyTravelPal offers three tiers:

Subscriptions are managed through Google Play Billing. We do not process or store payment data. When you subscribe, Google sends us a purchase token to validate your access.

Prices: shown at the time of purchase inside the App. We may change them with 30 days’ notice, notifying you in the App.

Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from Google Play subscription management. Premium access remains active until the end of the paid period.

Refunds: follow Google Play’s standard policy (usually a 48-hour window from purchase).

Free trial: if a trial period is offered, it will be specified at the point of purchase. At the end of the trial you are billed automatically unless you cancel beforehand.

4. AI-generated content

The “Trip inspiration” features and the “Companion” assistant use language models (Anthropic Claude) to generate itinerary suggestions, answer questions and provide context while driving. Please note that:

5. Companion mode and group sessions

Companion mode uses your device’s GPS in real time to give you alerts and contextual suggestions. If you create a group session, your position is shared with participants who have the access code. You are responsible for:

Group sessions expire automatically after 12 hours.

6. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

Violations may result in suspension or cancellation of the account.

7. Data providers and third parties

The App integrates with third-party services (see the Privacy Policy for the full list). We do not control their terms:

Any transaction you complete on third-party sites is between you and them; MyTravelPal is not a party to that relationship.

8. Liability

MyTravelPal is provided “as is”. We cannot guarantee that:

You drive at your own risk. MyTravelPal is not liable for damages arising from following its recommendations, including missed bookings, unexpected costs, delays, traffic fines or incidents on the road. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the last 12 months (€0 for users of the free plan).

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under mandatory EU consumer protection law (Directive 2019/771 and related rules).

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it or deleting your account (Settings → “Delete my account”, which removes your account, profile, trips and the other data linked to you). What is deleted and what is kept is detailed on the account deletion page.

We may cancel accounts that breach section 6. In that case we delete your data within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Disputes are submitted to the courts of the canton of Vaud (Switzerland). This does not affect your rights as a consumer to bring proceedings in your country of residence within the EU.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced inside the App at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the new terms.
